Starting from 2.5yrs
Pre School Dance
Pre School classes assist in the development of a child’s coordination, focus, and self-confidence. This fun class includes the use of both classical and modern children’s music as well as props and costuming to provide an interactive environment which supports the building of a child’s kinaesthetic abilities.
Beginner to Advanced
Ballet
It has been noted that studying classical ballet has positive improvements on posture as well as building rhythm, memory and performance skills. Following the Royal Academy of Dance syllabus (RAD) our students are trained with a focus on strengthening dance technique. Classes cover exam preparation, poised barre and centre work and traditional character dances which can lead to pointe work as students approach a more intermediate level. Open Classical classes available for seniors and above.
Beginner to Advanced
Jazz
Jazz classes, although more theatrical than ballet, focus on the building of technique. Students achieve this through the lively medium of high-energy dance to current pop music in the style of upbeat music videos. Classes include cardio exercise, corner combinations and the strengthening and limbering of muscles, which all help students to gain confidence and creativity.
Junior to Advanced
Contemporary
Contemporary dance is a style of expressive dance that combines elements of several dance genres including modern, jazz, lyrical and classical ballet. Contemporary dancers strive to connect the mind and the body through fluid dance movements and storytelling. Students can expect to perform expressive lyrical class work similar to that seen on So You Think You Can Dance, while building on a more relaxed technique.
Junior to Advanced, Adult
Tap
Stemming from the huge popularity and success of groups and movies such as Tap Dogs and Happy Feet, students are exposed to different foot percussion in a fun and interactive approach to the development of rhythm. Classes can cover any style from street tap through to a more traditional commercial style.
Junior to Advanced
Funk
Viewed world-wide in the pop music and video industry, funk classes could be described as a combination of jazz and hip-hop. Funk exercises and choreography are quite modern and have a ‘street’ feel about them. Classes include a cardio workout as well as exercises that build on different styles and techniques.
Adults
Adult Ballet and Stretch
Adult ballet runs along the lines of a normal ballet class with a good stretch and warm up, as well as barre exercises and centre work to get the body moving. This class will increase flexibility, strength and coordination in a casual and fun environment. No experience necessary, suitable for all adults, no matter what age you are!
Junior to Senior
Musical Theatre
Branching from song and dance, musical theatre is a combination of singing, dancing, and acting. Students look at character development while dancing to classic and current stage musicals.
